Unsuccessful repairs of synths etc:

Yamaha Tyros2 WorkstationEven after replacing the SubCPU, a 208 pin surface mounted component, the synth remained silent,
and the activity around the SubCPU did not look like normal data communication.
The remaining suspected components are hard/impossible to get hold of, and/or impossible to replace.
A pity, since the rest of the Tyros works well: the display and computer part, the keyboard, and all buttons and lights.
MIDI does also not work, so this synth can only be sold in parts. Take contact if you need Tyros2 parts,
for instance the sound module DAC2A, which probably works.
Yamaha PSR-S700 This synth worked in default piano mode only, because no LEDs or buttons worked.
Replacing a ribbon cable did not help.
MIDI IN and OUT work, so the synth can be used with other synths and MIDI controllers,
so investing more to fix this synth would not make sense.
The online service manual was of very little help, much less helpful than most older service manuals,
because there was almost no information about connections and expected signals, even if there are lots of test points.
